Create design onlineAbout Kirigami Ornamental Oregano
Kirigami is a compact ornamental oregano grown for its purple-green bracts, rose flowers and light-green foliage. PanAmerican Seed describes it as a fragrant, dense, mounded and slightly trailing plant that attracts pollinators and tolerates heat and drought. The exact product page lists Origanum rotundifolium, while the 2026–2027 catalog lists Origanum x hybrida; both identify the named selection Kirigami ([PanAmerican Seed product detail](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/169606189036648/ornamental-oregano-kirigami/); [PanAmerican Seed catalog](https://catalog.panamseed.com/view/445948364/72/)).
## Form and flowering
Plants reach 8–10 inches high and 12–14 inches wide, with a tight mound and slight trailing growth. Rose flowers appear from late spring into summer, while the purple-green bracts and foliage keep the display colorful from spring into autumn.
## Site and care
Grow in sun. Use the plant as a patio container feature, in a hanging basket, border or rock garden. Higher light and cooler nights bring out stronger purple tones in the bracts. The breeder lists the ornamental selection as non-culinary; its leaves are not palatable.
## Maintenance
Allow the stems to trail over a container edge, or trim lightly to maintain a compact mound. This selection is heat- and drought-tolerant and can be dried for floral arrangements. Its PanAmerican listing shows a hardiness-zone range, but does not label that scale as USDA, so no USDA range is given here.
