Create design onlineAbout Kent Beauty Ornamental Oregano
Kent Beauty is a named ornamental oregano grown for rounded, aromatic foliage and cascading, hop-like heads of pink bracts surrounding small flowers. Some references use the botanical name Origanum rotundifolium ‘Kent Beauty’, while other cultivar profiles use Origanum ‘Kent Beauty’; the cultivar identity is consistent even though taxonomic treatment varies. [RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/90151/origanum-kent-beauty/details) and [Bluestone Perennials](https://www.bluestoneperennials.com/ORKB.html) describe the same named selection.
## Garden use
Place this low, trailing plant in a sunny rock garden, border edge or container where the pendulous flowers can spill over a wall or pot rim. Its pale pink and green bracts remain showy through summer and into fall, and the flowers can be cut or dried for arrangements. Rounded leaves are aromatic, but the cultivar is sold as an ornamental oregano rather than a culinary herb.
## Growing
Give Kent Beauty full sun and sharply drained soil; avoid winter-wet conditions. Published listings place the plant in USDA zones 5–9 and describe it as a small edging plant. At maturity, allow roughly 8–10 inches of height and up to 18 inches of lateral spread. Keep soil from remaining soggy, and water during prolonged dry spells when needed to maintain active growth.
## Maintenance
Trim old stems in early spring as new growth begins. Remove spent flower stems if a tidier look is desired, or retain the bracts for dried arrangements. Divide established clumps every few years when they become crowded, replanting into well-drained soil.
