About Flower Power™ Dark Purple African Daisy

Flower Power Dark Purple is an osteospermum named for its deep purple, daisy-like flowers. Its saturated color makes a strong accent in sunny containers and mixed flower beds, where it pairs well with silver foliage or lighter blooms. ## Garden use Use it where a vivid flower color can be seen up close, such as patio pots, window-side containers, or the front of a sunny border. Osteospermum flowers open in bright conditions, and the species profile describes this plant group as suited to full sun and summer flowering ([RHS plant profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/46928/osteospermum-ecklonis/details)). Keep this selection’s distinct Dark Purple identity when combining it with other Flower Power colors. ## Siting and soil Choose a warm, sunny site with light, fertile, very well-drained soil. A sheltered position helps protect plants from cold winds; the RHS recommends frost-free winter conditions in climates with frost. ## Maintenance Water thoroughly after planting and during establishment. In a container, let excess water drain freely and avoid keeping the mix saturated. Remove faded flower heads when practical to help extend flowering. In areas with winter frost, treat it as a tender garden plant or bring a container into a protected, frost-free place.
