Flower Power™ Spider Purple African Daisy

FlowerPower™ Spider Purple is an upright osteospermum with distinctive purple flowers. Selecta lists this Spider selection at 10–14 inches tall and 14–20 inches wide for sunny sites, including pots and landscape beds ([official plant profile](https://www.selectanorthamerica.com/SpringPlants/SeriesInfo/?phid=046103827017220)). ## Garden use Choose this variety for a strong purple accent in patio pots, mixed containers, and sunny landscape beds. The Spider series is characterized by its unusual flower shape and upright habit, so it brings a distinct form as well as color to seasonal plantings. ## Siting and soil Provide full sun and light, well-drained soil in a warm, sheltered position. The RHS species guidance recommends shelter from cold winds and very well-drained soil for osteospermum ([RHS growing guidance](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/46928/osteospermum-ecklonis/details)). ## Maintenance Water after planting and while roots establish, then allow the surface of the potting mix to begin drying before watering again. Keep containers draining freely and avoid prolonged waterlogging. Remove spent flowers to prolong the display. Where winter temperatures fall below freezing, protect the plant or overwinter a container in a frost-free place.
