Tradewinds® Deep Purple African Daisy

Tradewinds® Deep Purple is an upright Osteospermum ecklonis with purple flowers. Syngenta lists it at about 10–14 inches tall and wide, with flowering from early spring through summer and use in containers ([Tradewinds® Deep Purple, product 70003906](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70003906)). ## Form and seasonal use The compact upright habit fits pots and mixed seasonal plantings. Its purple flowers add a strong color accent while the plant remains within the listed 10–14 inch size range. Syngenta places it in the Tradewinds® series. ## Siting The product profile recommends part sun to full sun. Use a well-drained site and choose a position with enough light for flowering. The Royal Horticultural Society also advises shelter from cold winds for Osteospermum ecklonis ([RHS growing guidance](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/46928/osteospermum-ecklonis/details)). ## Maintenance Water new plants regularly while they establish, then adjust watering to local weather and soil conditions. Check container moisture more often during warm, dry periods. Remove spent flowers as needed to keep the planting tidy, and protect the plant from frost where winters are cold.
