Lavender Mist® is the Plant Select name for Osteospermum ‘P006S’, a mat-forming sun daisy whose flowers open white and age to soft lavender-purple. Its neat foliage and long flowering season suit sunny borders, rock gardens, and containers where drainage can be controlled.
## Flowers and placement
Plant Select reports three-inch flower heads from April into autumn, with flowering listed from April to late summer. Mature plants are listed at 8–14 inches tall and 12–16 inches wide. Flower color changes as the heads age, so the white and lavender-purple tones can appear together on the plant.
## Growing conditions
The [Plant Select plant profile](https://plantselect.org/plant/osteospermum-p006s/) recommends sun or part sun and describes the foliage as evergreen. It lists clay, loam, or sandy soil and moderate-to-dry water needs, and cautions against frequent irrigation, poor drainage, and highly amended soil. Plant in a site that drains freely; water during establishment, then avoid keeping the root zone constantly wet. Plant Select lists USDA zones 4b–8; winter exposure and drainage still affect performance.
## Maintenance
Remove faded flower heads periodically to keep the plant neat and support continued display. In spring, trim away dead stems as needed, taking care not to cut healthy new growth.
