About Sourwood

Oxydendrum arboreum, or Sourwood, is a slow-growing deciduous tree prized for its multi-season appeal. It features a slender trunk and a narrow, pyramidal crown. In mid-summer, it produces drooping panicles of fragrant, white, urn-shaped flowers. Its glossy green leaves turn spectacular shades of crimson, purple, and yellow in autumn. This understory native thrives in acidic, moist, well-drained soils and is an excellent specimen for lawns, woodland gardens, or as a focal point.
