About Pachyphytum oviferum Pachyphytum

Pachyphytum oviferum is a clump-forming succulent known as moonstones or sugared almond plum. Its short stems carry fleshy, white-frosted leaves, and it produces arching spikes of red flowers in spring; the existing Syngenta product identity is 70118587. [Royal Horticultural Society](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/12090/pachyphytum-oviferum/details) ## Growth and display The RHS lists this species for sunny, sheltered positions and sandy, well-drained soil, with a compact mature spread. Its powdery leaf coating is a natural feature, so handle the leaves gently when moving or propagating the plant. ## Maintenance Grow in cactus compost in a greenhouse or as a houseplant on a sunny windowsill. Water moderately while it is actively growing and keep the compost almost dry during its rest period. A low-nitrogen fertilizer can be applied every six to eight weeks in spring and summer; pruning is not required. The RHS rates its hardiness using UK ratings, which are not converted here to a USDA zone. [Royal Horticultural Society](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/12090/pachyphytum-oviferum/details)
