About Peony 'Alertie'

Peony ‘Alertie’ is an upright, bushy herbaceous perennial with divided dark green leaves that can be tinged red in spring. Erect stems carry fragrant, double, saucer-shaped flowers in pale pink with deeper pink toward the center. The late-spring and early-summer display suits cottage gardens, mixed borders, sheltered wall-side beds, and cutting gardens. Grow it in full sun or partial shade and choose fertile, humus-rich soil that stays moist while draining freely. Give the clump a sheltered site and let it settle into place for a long-lived planting. [Royal Horticultural Society]() ## Maintenance Remove faded flowers after bloom, then cut the foliage back in autumn after it dies naturally. Keep water moving through the soil and avoid leaving roots in soggy ground. Divide only when needed, in autumn or early spring.
