About Peony 'Bridal Gown'

Bridal Gown is a compact herbaceous peony with lightly scented, double white flowers whose central petals are touched with cream. The sturdy stems and clean, rounded blooms suit a cottage border and provide useful cut flowers in late spring and early summer. ## Flowers and placement The American Peony Society lists Bridal Gown as a Lactiflora Group cultivar introduced by R. G. Klehm in 1981. Its registry describes a short plant around 30 inches tall with strong stems and fragrant white bomb-form blooms. The [RHS plant profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/56127/paeonia-lactiflora-bridal-gown/details) describes double white flowers with cream at the petal bases, a clump-forming habit, and a height around 75 centimeters. The registry also records that a plant patent was applied for. ## Growing conditions Choose full sun or light shade and deep, fertile, well-drained soil. Bridal Gown tolerates some shade, but avoid waterlogged ground; tall flower heads may need support in exposed gardens. The [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/56127/paeonia-lactiflora-bridal-gown/details) lists chalk, clay, and loam soils and recommends drainage. ## Maintenance Remove spent flowers while keeping the leaves in place for the growing season. Cut herbaceous stems back to ground level after foliage dies in autumn, and water at the soil line during dry periods.
