Canary Brilliants is an intersectional peony whose yellow flowers open from light beige buds, ranging from semi-double to full double. The American Peony Society describes a variable display with blooms opening in succession over about 10–14 days, on long stems above strong green foliage. Its mature crown spreads outward, so the plant can become broader than it is tall. ## Garden Use and Growing Conditions
This award-winning selection brings substantial spring bloom to a perennial border and also makes a useful cut or drying flower. Plant in full sun and moist, well-drained soil, following general peony guidance from University of Illinois Extension. Avoid planting the crown too deeply or using heavy fertilizer, which can interfere with flowering. [University of Illinois Extension peony guide](https://extension.illinois.edu/flowers/peony). The American Peony Society records a five-year plant dimension reaching about 26 by 36 inches and notes that older crowns may spread more widely. ## Maintenance
Allow room for the crown to expand. Water during establishment and dry spells, and keep the soil from remaining waterlogged. Divide only when needed to manage the clump or propagate it; the registry lists division as a propagation method.
