About Peony 'Cora Louise'

‘Cora Louise’ is an Itoh, or intersectional, double peony first bloomed in 1984 and recorded as seedling A80-02. The [American Peony Society registry](https://americanpeonysociety.org/cultivars/peony-registry/cora-louise/) records white double flowers with lavender flares, strong stems, dark-green foliage, and midseason bloom. Its flowers are held above a bush about 24 inches tall; the registry also notes light fragrance and no pollen or seed. ### Placement Iowa State University Extension recommends full sun or part sun and fertile, well-drained soil that stays moist. Use the plant in a perennial border where its late-spring flowers can be enjoyed and its foliage can serve as a green backdrop after bloom. Leave room for the mature clump. ## Maintenance Peonies are long-lived plants that are best planted and left in place. Deadhead after flowering and remove foliage at ground level in fall, following Iowa State Extension guidance.
