About Peony 'Glory Be'

Paeonia 'Glory Be' is an early-flowering herbaceous peony with luminous fuchsia-pink blooms, green pistils, and cherry-pink stigmas. The rounded plant grows to about 28 inches and develops a shrubby outline through summer before dying back in autumn. ## In the Garden Use Glory Be in a sunny or partly shaded perennial border for an early peony display. Its vivid flowers and contrasting green center are the defining features of the selection. The [Chicago Botanic Garden profile](https://www.chicagobotanic.org/plant-information/plant-finder/paeonia-glory-be-glory-be-garden-peony) lists it for USDA zones 4–7 and describes its mature height and bloom timing. ## Growing Conditions Plant in moist soil with the eyes no deeper than about two inches below the surface. Full sun to part shade is suitable; good drainage helps prevent prolonged saturation around the crown. ## Maintenance Leave the foliage in place while it is green so the plant can replenish its roots. Cut it back after it dies down in fall, and allow room for the clump to return each spring.
