Jadwiga is a named lactiflora peony with upright stems, dark green foliage, and double flowers in pink to dark pink. The [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/353710/paeonia-lactiflora-jadwiga/details) places flowering in June and gives a broad mature height and spread range of 0.5–1 m.
### Placement
Use Jadwiga in a sunny or partly shaded perennial border with fertile soil that stays moist but drains well. The RHS describes it as clump-forming and gives a typical size range of about 1.6–3.3 feet tall and wide. Leave space for the mature clump instead of planting it tightly against shrubs or a path. Its upright stems hold the double flowers above the dark foliage, giving the plant a clear role in a mixed spring-to-summer planting.
### Seasonal display
The pink flowers bring color in early summer, extending the peony display after earlier varieties have finished. Pair it with later-blooming perennials or use the dark green leaves as a calm backdrop for neighboring flowers. The June timing is a guide; local weather and growing conditions can shift bloom.
## Maintenance
Plant peonies where they can remain undisturbed. Remove faded flowers after bloom and cut foliage down after it dies back in fall. Water new plants during dry periods as they establish, and avoid waterlogged soil.
