About Peony 'Paula Fay'

Paeonia 'Paula Fay' is an early-flowering herbaceous hybrid with vivid pink blooms carried upright above dark green foliage. The [American Peony Society registry]() records Fay as originator in 1968, describes vigorous upright stems, and gives a height of about 35 inches. ## Flowers and habit The registry describes a shocking-pink flower with five rows of petals and good presence in the garden. Its account notes that the plant stays tidy rather than sprawling and characterizes it as an early, second-generation hybrid. ## Growing conditions Plant in a sunny or lightly shaded site with fertile, well-drained soil. Peonies benefit from shallow planting and a position where water does not collect around the crown. The [RHS growing guide]() provides planting and care guidance for herbaceous peonies. ## Maintenance Keep newly planted peonies watered while they establish and water during prolonged dry spells. Do not leave the soil waterlogged. Once foliage dies in autumn, cut the stems to ground level, following the [RHS guide]().
