Pink Hawaiian Coral Peony

Paeonia ‘Pink Hawaiian Coral’ is an early-flowering herbaceous hybrid with fragrant, semi-double blooms in coral and pink shades. Its compact, sturdy stems and good foliage make it a useful spring accent in a sunny or lightly shaded perennial border. ## Flowers and habit The American Peony Society registry records R. G. Klehm as originator and gives Charlie’s White × Otto Frobel as the parentage. It describes a 36-inch plant with a good amount of bloom, excellent stem strength, and cupped guard petals around golden stamens. The cultivar received the Society’s Gold Medal in 2000 and Award of Landscape Merit in 2009. Keep the shallow crown clear of deep mulch. Remove faded flowers if seed production is not wanted, then cut the herbaceous stems back after the foliage dies in autumn.
