About Tree Peony 'Ginga'

Ginga is a tree peony with woody stems and divided leaves, growing as a long-lived flowering shrub. Tree peonies produce large spring-to-early-summer blooms; the [RHS tree-peony guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/peony/tree/growing-guide) describes their general growing conditions and seasonal care. ## Garden use Give this shrub room to develop in a sheltered border, where its flowering display can be seen without crowding. The guide notes that tree peonies dislike strong winds and that late frosts can damage young foliage and flower buds, so an open but protected position is useful. ## Growing conditions Plant in autumn in a sunny or lightly shaded position with fertile, neutral to slightly acidic or alkaline, well-drained soil. Water regularly through the first summer while the plant establishes, then mulch annually to conserve moisture and improve the soil. ## Maintenance Tree peonies need little pruning. Remove dead stems in late winter and cut flowered shoots back just above new growth after flowering.
