White Eagle is a historic peony introduced by Hans P. Sass through Interstate Nurseries in 1937. The American Peony Society records it as seedling A-60 and describes loose-built, double white flowers with some stamens showing.
## Flowers and placement
The open center gives this white bloom a lighter look than a tightly packed double. Use it in a sunny perennial border or cut a few stems for an indoor arrangement. Peony stems can carry substantial flower heads, so provide a support ring before buds become heavy if the plant leans.
## Growing
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil for best flowering, with good air movement around the foliage. Bare-root peony buds should sit shallowly, about 1–2 inches beneath the soil; planting too deeply can reduce flowering. Water newly planted roots well and keep soil evenly moist during dry spells, especially while buds develop and open. A peony may take several seasons to establish and flower generously.
## Maintenance
Remove faded flowers to prevent seed formation, and cut foliage to ground level after a hard freeze. Discard dead leaves to reduce the chance of disease carryover. Avoid deep cultivation around the crown and roots.

## Maintenance
After bloom, remove spent flowers and clear foliage after a hard freeze. Keep peony buds shallowly planted and avoid deep cultivation around the crown.
