'Paint the Town Magenta' is a compact Dianthus hybrid with single magenta-pink flowers above a rounded mound of glaucous blue foliage. Proven Winners lists it at 6–8 inches tall and 12–14 inches wide, with spring and summer flowers and a USDA hardiness range of Zones 4–9.
## Site and placement
Plant in full sun to part shade in loose, well-drained soil. The breeder recommends average watering and neutral to slightly alkaline soil; use the low mound at a path edge, in the front of a sunny border, or in a container. The fragrant flowers and foliage provide close-up appeal, while bees and butterflies visit the blooms.
## Seasonal interest
Flowers are strongest in early summer, and the variety is listed as a continuous bloomer or rebloomer. Its blue foliage and winter interest can extend the display beyond the flowering period. Leave enough room for a 12–14 inch spread so the mound does not crowd neighboring plants.
## Maintenance
Water while roots establish and during extended dry weather. Once established, it can tolerate brief dry periods, but consistently wet soil is a poor fit. [Proven Winners plant profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/dianthus/paint-town-magenta-pinks-dianthus-hybrid)
