Switchgrass (Panicum)

Panicum virgatum, or switchgrass, is a versatile, clump-forming perennial grass native to North American prairies. It features an upright, columnar growth habit with stiff stems and medium green foliage that turns a brilliant yellow or orange in autumn. In mid-summer, airy, pink-tinged flower panicles emerge, creating a misty cloud effect. Highly adaptable, it thrives in full sun and various soil types, from dry to wet, making it ideal for erosion control, meadows, or as a structural accent.
