About Jerusalem Thorn

Parkinsonia aculeata, known as Jerusalem thorn or Mexican palo verde, is a fast-growing, deciduous small tree or spiny shrub reaching heights of 15 to 30 feet. It features a distinctive open, spreading crown with pendulous, lime-green branches that remain photosynthetic. The foliage consists of long, flattened petioles with tiny leaflets that drop during dry periods. It produces fragrant yellow flowers and is highly drought-tolerant, thriving in full sun and well-drained soils.
