Zonal Geranium (Pelargonium zonale)

Pelargonium zonale is an erect, bushy evergreen subshrub with rounded leaves marked by a narrow dark zone. It bears clusters of pink, white or purple flowers, usually in summer and early autumn outdoors, and can flower for much of the year in warm, bright conditions. The RHS describes typical growth to about 1 metre, with larger growth possible against a wall under glass; size can therefore vary with growing conditions. Existing catalog dimensions remain approximate, and the narrower width range is displayed in inches. ## Maintenance Grow in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Remove spent flowers regularly. Keep the plant frost-free over winter, either by growing it indoors or storing a lifted plant in a protected place; repot in spring as new growth resumes.
