Tango™ Velvet Red is a red-flowered zonal geranium with the compact, upright habit and dark foliage associated with the Tango series. Its bright flower clusters make it a useful choice for sunny summer pots and bedding displays.
## Selection and display
Syngenta lists Velvet Red as product 70007861. The Tango series has dark leaves and an upright, compact form; Syngenta’s Southern U.S. production trial rated Velvet Red “Good” for heat performance under the conditions tested. That rating describes the trial, not a guarantee for every outdoor site. ## Growing
Grow zonal pelargoniums in full sun and free-draining soil, in a container or border. Water moderately during active growth and let excess water drain away. Treat this tender selection as summer color where frost occurs; the Royal Horticultural Society advises waiting until frost has passed before planting outdoors. ## Maintenance
Remove faded flower clusters to keep the display tidy. Before frost, move a container to a bright, protected place or take cuttings to keep the selection for another season.
