JS Jommenik Lumen Gold Fountain Grass

‘JS Jommenik’, sold as Lumen Gold, forms a compact rounded clump with bright golden spring leaves that mature to pale lime green and narrow yellow-green flower spikes in summer and autumn. The [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/542157/pennisetum-alopecuroides-lumen-gold/details) describes the plant as about 60 cm tall and gives full-sun, well-drained-soil guidance; the [plant patent](https://patents.justia.com/patent/PP27435) identifies the variety and reports USDA zones 6–9. ## Placement Use the golden foliage as a bright accent in a sunny mixed border, where the rounded clump can be viewed against darker leaves. Chalk, loam, or sandy soil is suitable when drainage is good. The spring-to-summer color change and later flower spikes extend interest beyond the foliage's brightest season. ## Maintenance Remove dead foliage and old flower stems in spring before new growth is underway, following the RHS guidance for this grass. Keep the root zone well drained and leave room for fresh shoots to emerge.
