ROCK CANDY™ Blue - Beardtongue (Penstemon)

Rock Candy® Blue is a compact, upright beardtongue selected for bright blue flowers on short spikes. Darwin Perennials lists this exact plant as ‘Novapenblu’ and describes it as suitable for borders and containers, with a mature height and spread of about 12 inches. ## Garden character Bell-shaped flowers rise above green foliage during spring, late spring, summer, and autumn. The compact scale makes this selection useful along paths, at the front of a sunny border, or in a container where its blue flower color can be viewed close up. Darwin identifies drought tolerance, heat tolerance, and attraction to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. ## Site and care Plant in full sun. The grower lists light water and advises letting the growing medium dry moderately between waterings; in the garden, use well-drained soil and adjust watering to weather and establishment. Avoid keeping the crown saturated. ## Maintenance Remove spent flower stalks for a tidier finish; the grower recommends pinching during production.
