Create design onlineAbout Butterfly™ White Pentas
Butterfly™ White is an upright Egyptian star cluster with white, star-shaped flower heads and a compact mid-size habit. It is listed for late spring through summer, with plants reaching about 12–22 inches tall and 10–18 inches wide in a sunny position. The flowers draw butterflies and hummingbirds, while the series is selected for performance in heat and humidity.
## Garden Use
Use this white-flowering selection in sunny beds, borders, and containers where its clustered blooms can brighten a warm-season planting. PanAmerican Seed describes the series as tolerant of summer rains while retaining color, and notes that it can be offered from late spring into summer in cooler areas. See the [Butterfly White product details](https://www.panamseed.com/products/048000222005863/pentas-butterfly-white/) for cultivar-specific size, season, and exposure.
## Growing Conditions
Pentas grows best in full sun and organically rich, well-drained soil. Water consistently after planting, then allow the soil to dry between waterings. In cooler climates, this tropical plant is commonly grown as an annual or indoor plant; in warm regions it can grow as a perennial. The [North Carolina Extension profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/pentas-lanceolata/) provides species-level guidance.
## Maintenance
Keep soil supplied with moisture while plants establish, and avoid leaving roots in saturated soil. Check container moisture more often during hot weather. Protect plants from frost or grow them as seasonal annuals where winters are cold.
