About Bluesette Perovskia

Bluesette is a compact, branching Russian sage selection developed to flower early from seed. The [PanAmerican Seed product page](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/048400087000718/perovskia-bluesette/) describes an upright plant with a long flowering period, ornamental fragrant foliage, and pollinator appeal. It lists a mature, second-year height of 18–26 inches and spread of 24–30 inches, smaller first-year dimensions, hardiness zones 4a–9a, and flowering from late spring through summer and autumn. ## Landscape Use Use Bluesette near the front of a sunny border, in a premium patio container, or in a mixed container where its fine foliage and long bloom period add height without the scale of a large shrub. Its branching form and compact habit suit smaller garden spaces. ## Growing Conditions Provide sun and well-drained soil. PanAmerican Seed lists the selection for zones 4–9 and notes that longer days, higher light, and warm temperatures encourage earlier flowering. Keep soil from remaining wet for prolonged periods. ## Maintenance Water during establishment, then adjust irrigation to weather and container needs. Remove spent stems as needed to keep the plant tidy; leave healthy foliage in place while it continues to provide seasonal interest.
