About Amore® King of Hearts Improved Petunia hybrida

Amore® King of Hearts Improved is a Danziger AMORE® petunia selected for the series’ large, single blooms and stable heart-shaped pattern. Danziger lists it as mounded and early flowering, with a mature height of 10–12 inches and width of 14–18 inches; the Improved name distinguishes this selection from King of Hearts. ### Placement and Growing Conditions Grow it in a hanging basket, container, or sunny landscape bed. Petunias perform best in full sun and porous, well-drained soil. Allow room for the mounded plant to reach its listed width, and place the patterned blooms where they can be seen from a patio or garden path. ### Seasonal Interest Danziger’s 2023–24 North American catalogue identifies King of Hearts Improved as a newer selection with improved color-pattern stability. The current plant page uses the abbreviated name “Imp.” and retains it within the AMORE® series. The series is listed for hanging baskets and landscape use. ## Maintenance Keep the growing medium well drained and avoid overwatering, which Missouri Extension identifies as a contributor to petunia root rot. Check containers during hot weather and water as needed. Petunias prefer full sun and porous soil; vegetatively propagated plants may need more fertilizer than seed-grown types, so follow plant vigor. Deadheading is optional but can increase flower production.
