Double Madness™ Blue is a named double-flowered petunia selection for bright seasonal color in sunny beds and containers. Its blue blooms bring a full, ruffled look to the front or middle of a summer planting.
## In the garden
PanAmerican Seed describes the Double Madness series as compact and floriferous, with large double flowers through summer; its product information gives a typical series size of 10–15 inches tall and 10–12 inches wide. Mounded, upright growth suits larger containers, mixed combinations, and garden beds. The Blue selection retains its own identity and product code (PAS426584); it should not be treated as another color in the series. Illinois Extension lists petunias as dependable annuals with a broad range of colors and habits, and recommends full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Place plants where they receive direct light and where their mature spread can fill without crowding neighboring plants.
## Growing
Use a freely draining potting mix in containers and avoid letting water collect around the roots. Check container moisture regularly during warm, bright weather; the RHS container study found that petunias performed well with careful, measured irrigation and that overwatering reduced plant quality. In beds, water the root zone as needed to keep the soil evenly moist while plants establish, adjusting for rainfall and heat. The breeder lists spring through late summer as the series flowering window.
## Maintenance
Remove faded flowers when tidiness is desired and trim damaged or overextended stems to maintain a balanced mound. Recheck watering after pruning or during hot weather, and refresh container plantings if flowering declines late in the season.
