About Madness Blue Midnight - Petunia

Madness Blue Midnight is a blue-flowered selection of hybrid petunia grown as a half-hardy annual. Petunias span a wide range of habits and flower sizes, so use this named selection as seasonal color in a sunny spot and allow space for its actual growth. ## Site and bloom Provide full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Illinois Extension lists petunias as blooming from May through October in Illinois and notes that very heavy soil can reduce flowering. Its [petunia guide](https://extension.illinois.edu/flowers/petunia) gives these broad growing conditions for the hybrid petunia group. ## Garden use Petunias may be compact, spreading, trailing, or taller, depending on the selection. This blue-flowered plant can bring seasonal color to a bed or container once its growth pattern is clear; avoid crowding it against neighbors until its mature spread is known. ## Maintenance Pinch stems occasionally late in the season to encourage fresh growth and continued bloom. Keep the soil evenly moist but well drained, and avoid heavy ground that stays saturated. [Illinois Extension offers additional petunia care guidance](https://extension.illinois.edu/flowers/petunia).
