Ray™ Pistachio Cream Petunia hybrida

Ray™ Pistachio Cream is a mounded petunia with large, single flowers in its named pistachio-cream palette. Danziger lists it as an early-flowering selection at 12–14 inches tall and 12–16 inches wide, suitable for pots, hanging baskets, ground-cover plantings, and landscapes. ## Garden Use The rounded form and large flowers suit a patio pot, hanging basket, or planted bed. Danziger also lists the variety for ground-cover and landscape use. The published dimensions are approximately 12–14 inches tall and 12–16 inches wide; leave room for the spread so the foliage and flowers can fill out. ## Growing Conditions Choose a sunny position with moist, well-drained soil. University of Illinois Extension recommends full sun and moist, well-drained soil for petunias and notes that very heavy soils can reduce flowering. In a container, use a free-draining mix and check moisture regularly so the root zone does not dry out completely. ## Maintenance The RAY™ series is well branched, and Danziger’s production guidance says pinching is not needed for a good finish. In garden conditions, occasional late-season pinching can help petunias stay compact and bloom well.
