About Ray™ Sunshine Improved Petunia hybrida

Ray Sunshine Improved is a named RAY™ petunia selection, distinct from both Ray Sunflower and Ray Sunflower Improved. Danziger describes it as early-flowering, single, large-flowered, and mounded, with a mature range of 12–14 inches tall and 12–16 inches wide. ## Form and placement The compact, mounded habit suits patio pots, hanging baskets, ground-cover plantings, and landscape beds. Use the dimensions as a range for planning, not as a fixed point size. ## Growing conditions Petunias perform best in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Kew classifies Petunia in Solanaceae ([Plants of the World Online](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:331845-2)). Provide drainage in containers and avoid planting in heavy soil that remains wet. Danziger’s RAY™ series is noted for large flowers and early flowering; Illinois Extension provides general care guidance for hybrid petunias. Keep soil evenly moist while plants establish and during dry spells, with more frequent checks for pots and hanging baskets. Pinch back loose late-season growth to encourage a tidier mound.
