Surfinia® Deep Red is a vigorous red petunia for baskets, window boxes, and sunny beds. Its long flowering season and semi-trailing growth bring color to the edges of containers and to the front of mixed plantings.
## Form and placement
Suntory describes this selection as mounding and semi-trailing, with red flowers from spring through summer and fall. The mature plant is listed at about 8–12 inches tall and 18–24 inches wide, so give it room to spill over a basket or planter. Use it where its saturated flowers can be seen against green foliage or lighter neighboring plants. The [Suntory plant page](https://suntoryflowers.com/variety/surfinia-deep-red/) gives the selection’s habit, mature size, and growing conditions.
## Growing conditions
Plant in full sun for the strongest flowering; partial sun is also listed. Use a freely draining potting mix or garden soil and water consistently, especially in hanging containers that dry faster than beds. Regular feeding supports repeated growth during the season. Petunias are commonly grown as warm-season annuals; the [Illinois Extension petunia guide](https://extension.illinois.edu/flowers/petunia) explains their general siting and care.
## Maintenance
Check container moisture often in warm or windy weather, and remove damaged stems as needed. Trim overly long growth to keep a balanced outline; routine deadheading is usually unnecessary for modern self-cleaning Surfinia petunias. Replant after frost where the selection is not winter-hardy.
