About Surfinia® Giant Blue - Petunia

Surfinia® Giant Blue is a trailing petunia with blue flowers for hanging baskets, raised planters, and the edge of sunny beds. Its long stems make it especially useful where the plant can cascade over a container rim or soften a wall. ## Form and placement Suntory’s European plant page identifies Giant Blue as a trailing Surfinia selection. The [official Giant Blue detail page](https://suntoryflowerseurope.com/product/surfinia-giant-blue/) is the direct source for its selection identity and form. In North American growing information, plants are listed at roughly 5–7 inches tall with a much broader 4–8 foot spread under favorable conditions; allow room for the trailing stems and do not crowd neighboring plants. Use full sun for strong bloom, with partial sun also suitable. ## Growing conditions Plant in fertile, well-drained soil or a quality container mix. Water consistently while the plant is actively growing, particularly in baskets exposed to wind and afternoon sun. Petunias respond well to regular feeding during an extended flowering season. The [Suntory Surfinia guide](https://suntoryflowers.com/series/surfinia/) describes the series’ weather-tolerant, self-cleaning flowers, while [Illinois Extension](https://extension.illinois.edu/flowers/petunia) provides general petunia care. ## Maintenance Check baskets frequently for dry mix and water thoroughly when needed. Trim stems that extend beyond the intended space, and remove broken growth. Replace outdoors after frost where the plant is not reliably winter-hardy.
