Wave® Purple - Spreading Petunia

Wave® Purple is a spreading petunia from PanAmerican Seed’s Wave line. Its low profile and broad flowering footprint suit sunny beds, hanging baskets, and large containers. ## Form and placement PanAmerican Seed lists the plant at about 5–7 inches tall and 36–48 inches wide, with a spreading habit and spring-through-summer flowering. The [Wave Purple product page](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/048601633004341/spreading-petunia-wave-purple/) identifies the selection as PAS760727 and recommends it for pots and hanging baskets. Give the stems space to extend across the edge of a bed or cascade from a raised planter. Use full sun for best flowering. ## Growing conditions Plant in fertile, well-drained soil or a free-draining container mix. Water when the surface begins to dry; hanging baskets and small pots need more frequent checks than garden beds. Wave petunias are grown as warm-season annuals and can provide color through the main growing season. The [Illinois Extension petunia guide](https://extension.illinois.edu/flowers/petunia) provides general light, soil, and seasonal-care guidance for the genus. ## Maintenance Trim stems only if they extend beyond the intended area or become uneven. Remove damaged growth, and keep container drainage clear. Replace or protect the plant after frost where petunias do not overwinter outdoors.
