Easy Wave® Burgundy Star Spreading Petunia

Easy Wave® Burgundy Star is a full-sun spreading petunia for containers, hanging baskets, gardens and landscapes. PanAmerican Seed lists this selection as mounded and spreading, with flowers from spring through late summer, a height of 6–12 inches and a mature width of 30–39 inches. Its star-pattern flowers suit a sunny mixed planter or the front of a wide bed; PanAmerican Seed notes that some blooms may be more solid or show more white than the typical star pattern. The breeder describes Easy Wave as more mounded with more controlled spread than Wave varieties and recommends it for planters, baskets, gardens and landscapes. University of Minnesota Extension notes that spreading petunias need frequent watering and feeding during active growth, particularly in containers. Check containers frequently in warm or windy weather and water thoroughly when the mix begins to dry. Apply a balanced fertilizer as directed on its label, with regular feeding during active growth. Leave horizontal room for spreading stems; trim only when needed to keep neighboring plants clear.
