About Mirage Blue Petunia

Mirage Blue is a named petunia selection for seasonal flower color. Petunias generally grow best in full sun and moist, well-drained soil; Illinois Extension notes that very heavy soil can limit flowering. ## Placement and bloom Plant petunias where they receive plenty of direct sun, with room for air to move around the foliage. Containers, window boxes, and garden beds are practical settings for seasonal petunia color. Keep the soil moist without leaving roots in standing water, and use a free-draining potting mix in containers. When planting in a bed, follow the spacing on the plant label so foliage has room to dry between waterings. ## Growing notes Check pots regularly because their growing mix dries faster than open ground. Water near the soil surface and adjust frequency to temperature, wind, and rainfall. In beds, improve drainage where water tends to collect. For general petunia guidance, see [Illinois Extension petunia care](https://extension.illinois.edu/flowers/petunia). ## Maintenance Remove faded flowers and damaged stems to keep the planting tidy. If the display becomes leggy, trim lightly and continue watering and feeding according to the product label. Petunia performance varies with local weather and care, so monitor the plant and adjust irrigation as conditions change.
