About Feesey Ribbon Grass

Feesey ribbon grass is a vigorous, running perennial grass with narrow pale-green leaves, broad white stripes and occasional pinkish-red tones. Upright stems are flushed pink at the base, and summer panicles carry pale-green spikelets touched with pale purple; its rhizomes can spread far beyond the original clump. ## Plant Profile The Royal Horticultural Society lists ‘Feesey’ and ‘Strawberries and Cream’ among the synonyms of its profile ‘Strawberry and Cream’. That profile gives a mature height of 0.5–1 m and a spread wider than 8 m, underscoring the plant’s strong running habit. [RHS ‘Strawberry and Cream’ profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/523346/phalaris-arundinacea-strawberry-and-cream/details) ## Growing Conditions This grass grows in full sun or partial shade and is listed for chalk, clay, loam and sandy soils. The RHS recommends well-drained soil. Its ornamental variegation is strongest where foliage receives good light, while afternoon shade can help in hotter locations. ## Maintenance Plant only where its spread can be controlled, and check local invasive-plant guidance first. Keep the rhizomes contained and remove shoots that escape the intended area. Cut back old foliage in spring to make room for new growth; follow local rules when disposing of cut material.
