About Dwarf Snowflake Dwarf Mockorange

Dwarf Snowflake is a compact mock orange grown for fragrant, double white flowers in late spring. Oregon State University lists it under both Dwarf Snowflake and Miniature Snowflake Mockorange, with a mature height of about 3–4 ft and a similar spread; [Campbell’s Nursery](https://www.campbellsnursery.com/product/landscape-plants/shrubs-and-roses/shrubs/mockorange-mini-snowflake/) names the cultivar as Philadelphus x virginalis 'Dwarf Snowflake'. [Oregon State University](https://landscapeplants.oregonstate.edu/plants/philadelphus-virginalis-miniature-snowflake) gives hardiness zone 4 and describes its dense, upright branching. ### Size and siting Use this small shrub in a border, near a path, or where its spring fragrance can be enjoyed. It grows in full sun to light shade and prefers fertile, well-drained soil. The white double flowers stand out against the leafy branches, and its compact size suits smaller gardens as well as mixed shrub plantings. ## Maintenance Water consistently while the plant establishes, then water when the soil begins to dry during extended dry weather. After flowering, remove spent flowered stems and prune lightly to maintain the shape; avoid routine hard pruning before bloom. Remove dead or damaged branches as needed. For broader Philadelphus care, the [Royal Horticultural Society](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/philadelphus/growing-guide) recommends pruning after flowering and growing mock oranges in well-drained soil.
