Minnesota Snowflake is a tall, open mock orange shrub with gently arching branches. Large, fragrant, double white flowers appear in late spring, bringing the strongest seasonal display before the shrub is pruned after flowering.
## Plant Profile
The Chicago Botanic Garden reports a mature size of about eight feet tall and wide, with flowers in May and June and hardiness in zones 4–8. It lists the plant for screens, hedges, sunny borders, and specimen use, and notes that butterflies visit the flowers. ## Growing Conditions
Plant in sun or partial shade. The shrub tolerates a range of conditions but prefers consistently moist soil and does not tolerate poor drainage. Give its arching canes room to develop and place it where the scented flowers can be enjoyed. ## Maintenance
Prune after flowering. If the shrub becomes very overgrown, the Chicago Botanic Garden recommends cutting it back to the ground. [Chicago Botanic Garden](https://www.chicagobotanic.org/plant-information/plant-finder/philadelphus-x-virginalis-minnesota-snowflake-minnesota-snowflake)
