Create design onlineAbout Blue Moon Phlox Plant
Blue Moon woodland phlox forms a low, spreading patch of fragrant dark-blue flowers in early spring. It brings color to lightly shaded woodland edges and shaded borders, while its spreading habit gradually fills space beneath shrubs and trees. The official product page lists a height of 12 inches, a spread of 14–16 inches, shade to partial sun, medium water, and drought and heat tolerance. [Darwin Perennials’ Blue Moon product page](https://www.darwinperennials.com/Products/Details/?phid=049200445006790) describes the named selection; [University of Wisconsin Extension’s woodland phlox guide](https://hort.extension.wisc.edu/articles/woodland-phlox-phlox-divaricata/) provides broader species context.
## Growing Conditions
Plant in partial or dappled shade and provide moderate moisture while the plant establishes. Allow room for the colony to spread. Woodland phlox is useful at the front of a naturalized border or beneath deciduous trees, where spring light reaches the ground before the canopy closes.
## Maintenance
Water during dry spells in the first season. Once established, this selection tolerates some drought. Trim spent flower stems after bloom if a neater edge is desired, and avoid disturbing the spreading crown unnecessarily.
