Intensia® Blueberry - Annual Phlox

Intensia® Blueberry is an annual Phlox drummondii selected for a vivid blue-purple flower display and bright green foliage. The named selection is 'USPLX60306' (USPP 21,646), and Proven Winners now lists this Blueberry selection in the Southern Blaze series, formerly Intensia. Plants are about 10–16 inches tall and wide, with full-sun exposure, average water needs and good drainage. ### Seasonal color and placement The flowers bring blue and purple tones to sunny beds and containers through the warm season. Proven Winners describes the plant as a compact mound, heat tolerant, drought tolerant and self-cleaning, with flowers that can continue from planting until hard frost. The original selection record also describes its darker violet eye and upright bushy growth. Use the compact scale at the front of a bed or in a container where the display can be seen. ## Maintenance Plant in well-drained soil and water at an average level, avoiding persistently soggy roots. The listing says deadheading is not needed; regular feeding or compost can support strong flowering, especially in pots. Treat it as an annual in most climates and replace it seasonally; the listed hardiness range is USDA zones 10a–11b.
