Phloxstar™ Pink is a compact, mounded annual selection of Phlox drummondii, carrying single pink flowers through the spring and summer season. Danziger gives a mature size of 12–14 inches tall by 14–16 inches wide and lists the selection for landscape planting, pots, and hanging baskets. ## Garden use
Use it at the front of a mixed border, along a sunny path, or in a patio container where its rounded habit can fill around taller plants. North Carolina State Extension notes that annual phlox grows in full sun to part shade and prefers sandy, well-drained soil, though it can establish in other well-drained ground. Species flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. [North Carolina State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/phlox-drummondii/common-name/phlox-annual/)
## Maintenance
Treat this selection as a warm-season annual. Water new plants as they establish and during prolonged dry weather; the species has moderate to high drought tolerance. Removing faded blooms keeps the planting tidy, while leaving a few flowers to set seed can allow annual phlox to reseed in suitable conditions.
