FLAME™ Coral is the trade name for the named garden-phlox selection ‘Barsixtytwo’. It forms a notably short clump with coral-red flowers and a purple-red eye; a garden trial measured it at about 18 inches tall and wide and recorded bloom from late June into late July.
## In the garden
Plant this compact Phlox paniculata in a sunny border with moist, well-drained soil and enough airflow around the foliage. The trial found mild fragrance and generally good powdery-mildew resistance, but also observed a severe mildew outbreak in its second year, so performance can vary with conditions. [Mt. ## Maintenance
Water during hot, dry periods and avoid crowding the clump. Garden phlox can be divided in spring or late summer to early fall. Remove infected leaves and debris in fall; this supports sanitation but does not guarantee mildew prevention. The Canadian variety record identifies ‘Barsixtytwo’ as the botanical denomination and Coral Flame as its trade name.
