FLAME™ 'Purple' - Tall Phlox

FLAME™ 'Purple' is the Phlox paniculata cultivar Barfourteen (US PP 12,605). Its patent describes compact pot-type growth, a dense and bushy habit, and dark reddish-purple flowers arranged in terminal clusters. The patent records a plant about 45 cm tall and 25 cm wide, with continuous flowering from mid-summer through fall and fragrance typical of the species. The official Flame culture guide separately lists Purple 'Barfourteen' by name and patent number and describes full-sun production for the series. These cultivar-specific details distinguish this selection from other purple garden phlox. The [Barfourteen plant patent](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP12605P2/en) and [Flame culture guide](https://www.darwinperennials.com/controls/MarketingPDF.aspx?blobid=6) provide the selection details. The [RHS garden-phlox profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/12736/phlox-paniculata/details) gives broader soil and light guidance for the species. ## Maintenance Grow in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Water during dry weather and leave enough space between plants for air to move through the foliage.
