About Little Lanterns Physalis

Little Lanterns is Syngenta’s compact, mounding ground cherry selection, with round golden fruit hidden inside papery husks. The grower page identifies it as Physalis edulis 70092272 and reports an approximate 12-inch height by 24-inch spread. ## Growing Conditions Plants mature about 70 days after transplanting, and the husks turn light brown and split or fall when fruit is ready to harvest. The [Syngenta Flowers product page](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/vegetalis/70092272) recommends fresh use as well as jams, jellies, and sauces. Grow it in open ground or a container, and leave enough space for the spreading canopy. Harvest ripe golden berries from correctly identified plants and remove the papery husk before serving. ## Maintenance Keep plants watered during establishment and monitor containers more often in warm weather. Harvest as husks dry, split, or drop; collect fallen fruit promptly.
