Picea glauca 'Pendula' is a narrow, upright white spruce with stiff branches that hang downward and gray-green to steely-blue needles. Iseli Nursery records Jean Iseli's rediscovery of a specimen at the Morton Arboretum in 1982 and describes its formal conical outline; the American Conifer Society also documents its strongly pendulous branching. [Iseli's Pendula profile](https://iselinursery.com/colorful-conifers/picea-spruce/picea-glauca-pendula/) and [American Conifer Society profile](https://conifersociety.org/conifers/picea-glauca-pendula/)
## Form and garden use
The weeping branches create a distinctive vertical specimen. Iseli lists a garden size around 15 feet tall by 4 feet wide, while the Conifer Society gives a smaller 10-year size; mature dimensions therefore depend on age and conditions. Retain room for the central leader and drooping branches.
## Growing conditions
The Iseli profile lists full sun and describes gray-green foliage. Give the tree well-drained soil and enough space for its upright form. Its narrow habit can suit a focal point or mixed planting where the branch outline remains visible.
## Maintenance
Water the root ball thoroughly at planting and during establishment. Iseli's planting guidance recommends a broad hole, a visible root flare and mulch kept away from the trunk. Water deeply during dry weather while avoiding persistently saturated soil. [Iseli planting guidance](https://iselinursery.com/general-planting-instructions/)
