Baby Blue® is an evergreen Colorado spruce grown from seed collected at West Montrose Farms’ blue-spruce orchard. The grower describes a dense, slender pyramidal tree that reaches about 35–45 feet at full size, while retail profiles using the Baby Blue name also publish smaller mature sizes, so provenance and growing conditions matter when planning space. ## Form and garden use
The orchard selection is valued for consistently blue needles, compact branching and a narrower profile than many Colorado spruces. It works as a long-lived specimen or vertical evergreen anchor where its eventual height can be accommodated.
## Growing conditions
Choose a sunny position with well-drained soil. Young plants benefit from regular watering as their roots establish; thereafter adjust watering to local rainfall and soil drainage. Its leader extends more slowly during the first few years, then grows at a pace closer to other blue spruces once the tree is larger.
## Maintenance
The grower reports that the naturally full branching usually needs little or no shearing. Preserve the central leader and prune only dead, damaged or poorly placed branches.
