About Bizon Blue Colorado Blue Spruce Tree

‘Bizon Blue’ is a slow-growing Colorado spruce selected for dense, symmetrical branching and durable silvery-blue needles. Its pyramidal crown makes a composed year-round specimen for a sunny landscape. [American Conifer Society](https://conifersociety.org/conifers/picea-pungens-bizon-blue) ## Form and garden use The American Conifer Society records a height and spread of about 8 by 4 feet after ten years, with annual extension of roughly 6–8 inches. That age-specific measurement is useful for estimating the young tree’s footprint; it is not a maximum mature size. The selection originated as a seedling chosen by Bizon Nursery in Oregon. ## Growing conditions Plant in full sun and well-drained soil, leaving room for a conical crown to develop. Colorado spruce foliage color is strongest in open light. Water regularly while the root system establishes, then adjust to rainfall and soil conditions rather than keeping the soil saturated. ## Maintenance The naturally dense branching needs little shaping. Keep the leader intact, remove dead or damaged branches, and avoid routine shearing that would obscure the tree’s natural outline.
