Ivory Cane Palm (Pinanga coronata) is a clustering palm native to Sumatra, Java, and the Lesser Sunda Islands. NParks reports a variable mature height of 3.5–11 metres, mottled green fronds, and growth in tropical and montane climates. ([NParks](https://www.nparks.gov.sg/florafaunaweb/flora/2/6/2668))
## Form and Siting
The upright, ringed trunks grow in clumps, with large feather-shaped leaves. NParks recommends full sun or semi-shade and moderate water; its profile also describes moist, well-drained soil. The broad height range reflects variation within the species, so allow room for a substantial palm.
## Garden and Container Use
This palm makes a bold foliage specimen in a warm garden or a spacious conservatory. The species includes forms from both open and shaded habitats, so use sheltered partial shade for young plants and brighter exposure only where the local form and growing conditions suit it.
## Maintenance
Maintain even moisture while allowing water to drain freely. Remove aging fronds when needed and protect plants from cold exposure in climates outside its tropical range.
